Sofia Coppola is a style genius. Her simplistic, yet elegant, modern style is effortless and chic. I’m not quite sure just how she does it, but I am so inspired by her personal style I wanted to create an outfit that mirrors her approach to dressing beautifully.

INSPIRATION
Like I just mentioned, Sofia Coppola has a way of making her luxe ensembles look effortless. It’s almost like you can hear her saying, “What? This old thing!” to anyone who asks where she got her dress.

With Ms. Coppola the basics are essential. In the above photo, taken at a fragrance launch party for John Galliano, she is wearing a cashmere v-neck sweater over a sequined sheath dress. She wears no jewelry save the leather wrist watch. For the shoes, she chose a pair of high heels with ankle straps.

PIECE BY PIECE
Trying to find plus-size pieces that precisely display all that’s going on in this picture of Ms. Coppola was a super challenge. Which is weird, considering all that she is wearing are basic items (sheath dress, v-neck sweater).

Anyway, I did manage to find a dress and sweater that basically captures the spirit of her outfit. Though, I was hoping for navy I had to settle for charcoal gray. She does, however, love her gray and black colors too. So, this choice is still in keeping with her personal style.

For her accessories I chose a turn knob faux croc clutch, a black leather strap wrist watch and a pair of diamond stud earrings. I used a similar style ankle strap heels to complete this look.
