Reader Question: How does the Fat Stylist Crew feel about black nail polish?

Listen to year 2006/2007 because it was right. Black [nail polish] is beautiful. Sometimes it’s no fun to take part of a trend during its height. I don’t know about you, but I occasionally hate on a style just because it’s big at the moment, but I actually secretly love it (leggings?). If everyone’s doing [...]

Listen to year 2006/2007 because it was right. Black [nail polish] is beautiful. Sometimes it’s no fun to take part of a trend during its height. I don’t know about you, but I occasionally hate on a style just because it’s big at the moment, but I actually secretly love it (leggings?). If everyone’s doing it, then why bother? That’s exactly how I felt about black nail polish. Do you remember a year or two ago when there was a huge to do about the limited edition Chanel Le Vernis No. 219 Black Satin polish? It was selling out in stores and going for ridiculous amounts of cash on eBay (I bet the shipping was outrageous too for that one bottle). Well since it’s no longer in hot pursuit, I say now is the time to rock this trend as if it were your own genius. Over the past couple of months, I’ve seen the dark lacquer on a handful of finger tips, and each time it has gone duly noted. I think it’s very sophisticated and goes with almost everything. If you’re not sold on this, I say try a liquid paper-esque white coat on your nails. It’s perfect for summertime, very clean and surprisingly very eye catching. Wear either color with a square shaped nail and high gloss top coat.

Dark colors of nail polish look great as long as they’re well applied and manicured. IT’s unfortunate that dark colors do make your hands look shorter though. Therefore have medium-shorter length nails in good shape to wear it well. It looks really bad though on people who have bitten nails. It also looks awefull when chipped. Therefore it’s a hard look to maintain properly. If you don’t maintain it you end up looking like the 13 year old green haired girl in junior high who’s obsessed with pop punk bands and hasn’t figured out style yet.
