A few weeks back, Stylist Jr. sent me a link to a post on gladiator sandals, a trend that is heating up this spring and will probably be in full swing by summer.
Since this is Questions and Answers Week, I decided to pose this question to you guys.
Would you wear gladiator sandals: Yea or Nay?
[...] style with a no open toe shoe policy, then wear just about any cute sandal you want except for gladiators (a grave fashion that should be punishable by a fight to the death). I promise you’ll regret it [...]

Let me guess who voted it one star… Stylist Jr, is that you?
Nay. I just don’t like how they look. But I lived through this same trend in the 80’s. I have a hard time getting on board with any of the 80’s resurgence stuff.
Yeah, I guess I’m going have to go along with the group and delete the glads. I don’t have a pair and definitely don’t want to buy a pair, but I will say I’ve seen them look ok on a very few people.
i’m in the middle on this one.
first, i’m not a huge fan of these examples. on the bigger girl, an ankle strap isn’t always so flattering (and by ‘isnt always’ i mean never)…so therefore a definite no on the ones that continue on up to the ankle.
i’m also going to be more apt to be okay with the gladiator existence when it’s under jeans. gladiator with a skirt, while possibly more historically in tune, just isn’t pretty.
what i do like is an understated version. something strappy, a little classic, but very now. i’m currently on the hunt for the perfect hybrid. (which is complicated by the fact that strappy sandals are hard to come by in a wide width) i’ll let you know when i find it!
I never liked the gladiator sandals… they never make an outfit look better… I wont wear them.
