I really do dig menswear for women. Can you tell yet? I especially love menswear for plus-size women because it translates nicely. Lapels and woven fabrics fit nicely on our frames. You can see just how well it works with what Elena Miro designed for their Autumn 2008 collection.
These day looks are very strong in their direction. They played around with suits and uniforms and while that might sound boring, the execution is actually quite stunning. Mostly because they used shimmery fabrics and interesting knits.
My favorite day look is the purple shirt dress belted at the waist. It reminds me of a nurse’s uniform because without the color and without the shimmer that’s exactly what it could be. And what’s not hot about being a nurse, I ask. Also, that lilac purple is a fun color.
Finding Elena Miro’s collection in U.S. stores or online has not proved to be easy (another complaint about plus-size women’s wear… where on earth can we buy it?). Their English site seems to have a glitch when searching for International stores. However, I did try the Italian site and managed to find one store in Toronto, Canada, which is as close to the U.S. as these lovely goodies get. The store is located at 2901 Bayview Ave. in the Bayview Village Shopping Centre.
It’s starting to sound like the old adage about finding good pizza in San Francisco. If you want good pizza in San Francisco it’ll cost you $447… $17 for the pie, $30 for the taxi, and $400 for a plane ticket to New York City. So, if you’re craving Elena Miro it’ll cost you a plane ticket to Toronto or Europe where they have a number of stores.
